Overview

International Road Dynamics (IRD) and Electronic Transaction Consultants (ETC) have united under the Quarterhill brand to ignite change in the transportation industry. With our shared legacies of excellence and progress, we’re forging pathways to a safer, more connected world where transportation goes beyond boundaries. We’re focused on driving advancements in transportation technology to pave the way for a safer, more connected world.

Quarterhill has over four decades of experience in the Tolling and Enforcement industries. Catering to the foremost toll authorities in the United States, we handle over 2 billion toll transactions each year. Enforcement agencies use our commercial vehicle inspection technologies in over 2000 lanes worldwide to prevent weigh station congestion and protect roads from premature damage.

Our Safety and Enforcement services provide comprehensive solutions to ensure compliance and maintain road safety. With advanced technologies and innovative approaches, we help create a secure and efficient transportation system. Precise weight enforcement, automated screening, and intelligent reporting for enhanced safety and environmental performance are just a few of the ways we drive reliable traffic safety. We also provide advanced screening technology for vehicle dimensioning, overload and tire safety screening, vehicle identification, and inspection status determination.

Products

Quarterhill’s iSINC® Electronics form the core of our Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) systems. Out of the box, iSINC® performs a broad range of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) functions, from data collection and web-based traffic monitoring, to weigh-station automation. A “lite” version of the iSINC® provides a compact, rugged, and energy-efficient system that is a popular choice for modernizing data collection systems. The iSINC® is a suitable controller for Quarterhill’s WIM scales and sensors and also those produced by other vendors. A wide variety of peripherals, including cameras and message signs, also interface with the iSINC®.

Quarterhill’s software is used in systems for traffic data analysis and reporting (VI2M™, iAnalyze®), in toll systems, and for operating weigh stations and virtual weigh stations.

Our High Speed Weigh-In-Motion (HSWIM) scales are suitable for WIM applications including weigh station preclearance systems, traffic monitoring, bridge protection, WIM@Toll® applications and data collection. Quarterhill’s SLC Load Cell scales have established a benchmark for reliability, and thousands of IRD-PAT Bending Plate Scales are incorporated in ITS systems worldwide.

Quarterhill’s portable WIM systems include the TRS WIM for data collection and the DAW 300 and SAW III scales for enforcement weighing. Quarterhill supplies a variety of complementary technologies such as off-scale sensors and toll sensors for automatic vehicle classification. Our Tire Anomaly and Classification System (TACS™) uses VectorSense® tire sensors to screen for commercial vehicles that are unsafe due to flat, missing or underinflated tires. Quarterhill’s acquisition of Sensor Line added rail WIM and fiber-optic traffic sensors to our product offerings.
